The Kangayam Korangadu Habitait is essentially a rain shadow region of the Western Ghats. The terrain is hard and labour becomes intensive. Livestock keeping is a major source of livelihood. Especially the role of woman is imminent. They raise cattle, sheep and backyard poultry in a certain proportion to make it viable for them, to ensure sustainability. Researchers are interested from a rural management perspective to study the system. Research proposals have been sent to Tamilnadu Agricultural University, National Biodiversity Authority, and National Institute for Transforming India.
